At 10 years old, Joe was introduced to photography by his dad who was an accomplished still photographer.
Becoming more and more interested in the moving image, Joe wanted to tell stories. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled in New York City’s School of Visual arts to study filmmaking. Joe specialized in cinematography, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in film. After graduating, Joe went on and became a Steadicam operator where he learned the intricacies, and subtleties of camera movement. This would later serve him well as a cinematographer.
Joe has traveled the world, and has shot hundreds of commercials, and over 21 independent films, including the New York cult classic "Johnny Suede" starring Brad Pitt. His films have been in numerous festivals such as Cannes, South by South West, and Sundance. One of his films, "What Happened Was" won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. He also shot the Feature film "The Girl Who Invented Kissing", starring Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless, Sucker Punch).
Most recently Joe has been collaborating with singer / songwriter Bruce Springsteen. He recently worked with Mr. Springsteen on "Western Stars" which was Mr. Springsteen's directorial debut alongside director Thom Zimny. Joe has also collaborated with director Thom Zimny on the Bruce Springsteen projects for Netflix, "Springsteen on Broadway" and for Apple TV "Letter to You".

As an avid auto buff and hobbyist car restorer, Joe has really been shooting many car spots recently. He loves designing driving / camera car / Ucrane Arm shots and has collaborated with some of the best stunt drivers and camera car people in the business.
Joe lives between Tribeca, NYC and the Catskill mountains in upstate New York. He works local in Los Angeles, and travels extensively to shoot all over. In his downtime, when he is not taking pictures with his father’s old Hasselblad, he can be found tinkering away on a vintage car.
